Halifax are Evil
I finally opened my post, I'm terrible at doing it when it comes in. Well actually this is the fastest i've opened it. The next day. Either way, I'm glad I did. It's from my building society, Halifax, telling me nicely, that I have an UNAUTHORISED Overdraft... and they are going to charge me £50.
This all stems from fraud I had a year ago. I had them investigate... and because I couldnt proove it wasnt me who took the money out. (the security camera couldnt see the cash point because a tree was in the way). - There was nothing I could do, I lost the money. Obviously I closed the account... What tiny bit of money was left, I asked to have and they gave me too much... leaving the account in like -£1.00 or something. Anyway, a few months when by, and I kept getting statements from the aledged 'closed' account. I'm busy and I dont get time to visit the banks often, and it kept saying -£1.01 so, i just left it. Anyway, I noticed they were charging me interest on this amount, every month. So its up to -£4.80 now... I go into my nearest branch. And say... look I dont care, I want to pay it, just close the account, I explain the whole story etc. They say to me... "Sorry you cant close it, you have to go to your branch you opened it", unfortunatley, like I said, I'm a busy person, so I dont get a chance to go there... Instead, I have a brain wave.
PHONE BANKING
Now I don't know much about banking, but I assume that over the phone, I just might be able to pay the £4 that I now owe them, you know, use there service, etc. They ask me security questions, like what have I used one of my accounts for recently - after streching my memory and thinking what I had purchased with it, I explained my whole story... However, after probably spending a few quid, more than what I owe, on there premium rate number, they say.
"sorry sir, you cant pay with anothre account to the account you owe money on over the phone, but you can go into any branch and tell them you want to close the account and pay the amount"
ANY BRANCH
I say, any branch? - I've just been to my local branch, but, they told me I cant do it there.
She says "really? i really doubt that, you can do it"
I say "I'm not lying... I've just done it"
She says "Oh well try again"
LATER in this Saga...
So I look at the time, being a saturday, they're now closed, and I forget about it for a while, still owing £4 to them. - This is now my 3rd attempt including my fraud, to close this account.
THE LETTERS
So this takes us back to the letters I recieved yesterday. Saying they are going to charge me for an UNAUTHORISED overdraft.
So today I'm going to go in and get this resloved, and will now move to another bank.
Halifax are evil, I no long willingly want to pay my £4, (+ the £50 new charges), I dont want to pay anything.
If they dont reslove it, I will take them to court.
